The role
This highly analytical and experienced individual will help us drive growth and margin through assortment planning, vendor negotiations, on-site merchandising and inventory management. The role offers a high degree of autonomy and entrepreneurial activity to deliver the best range, service and value to our customers.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Full P&L responsibility for the categories, including revenue, margin, wastage & other supplier income
- Develop and execute optimal category strategy, pricing, promotions, range, availability, and cost prices
- Work with vendor base to negotiate terms, secure supplier advertising spends, develop new incentive programs, and ensure a reliable and operationally effective flow of goods to our fulfilment warehouse
- Employ data-driven decision making to drive the category·
- Work closely with marketing and supply chain to forecast demand and ensure consistent supply
- Partner with supply chain team to manage inventory levels and wastage
- Work cross functionally with Technology, Operations and Marketing to deliver strategic projects allowing LazMart to offer the best customer experience
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this role has should possess business judgment with a desire to build and manage their own business. He/she must be able to work well in cross-functional teams to drive business goals. They must have good industry understanding of the grocery business.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4-7 years’ experience, preferably in merchandising / buying and strong connections to related suppliers
- Ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Great communication skills (both oral and written) are a must
- Strong Excel skills
Requirements/Qualifications(good to have)
- Offline category buyer/manager retail background (from supermarkets, convenience stores, specialty stores like SM Supermarket, Robinsons Supermarket, 7-11, Watson's)
